What are we doing
FROM WASTE TO PRODUCT
If a bicycle has been parked in a public place, the bicycle may not be left there for too long. That is why the government in the Netherlands has drawn up certain rules. Enforcement places a warning label on the bicycle stating that the bicycle will be removed within a certain period if the bicycle is not collected by the owner.
After this period has expired, the bicycle will be taken away and stored in the municipal bicycle depot. The owner will still have the opportunity to pick up the bicycle there, but if this does not happen, the municipality will own the bicycle.
In the Netherlands, bicycles are discarded en masse in this way and municipal bicycle depots are overflowing. Without green initiatives such as Cheapassbikes, these bicycles are destroyed and the old iron is recycled.

Cheapassbikes is a social enterprise. We offer workplaces for young people who are at a distance from the labor market.
What does that mean?
Very simple: these young people cannot or find it difficult to qualify for a regular job due to recognized employment limitations. Within our team they are trained as bicycle repairmen. A fun job with structure, responsibility and results, but also a safety net to fall back on.
